Robert Turbin Doesn’t Hit Stride in Opener: Fantasy Implications

Seahawks RB Robert Turbin received a team-high 10 carries and was only able to turn in 24 rushing yards while adding three catches for nine yards.

Analysis: Turbin was able to reel in all three of his targets and one of them was for negative three yards. He absolutely won't be earning his money in the passing game with just 17 receptions in his 13 games last year at Utah State, though. The 222-pound back didn't have much in front of him, but a 2.4 yards-per-carry average isn't going to alleviate the concern of the Seattle coaching staff if and when they lose Marshawn Lynch. That's especially true in the preseason. Leon Washington, Turbin's competition for carries in the event of a Lynch absence, had a solid performance with 26 yards on five carries. Washington showed promise with the Jets with over 800 yards from scrimmage and eight scores in his 2008 campaign. A lot of eights, right? He has since fizzled out a bit and has yet to distinguish himself as an elite runner since 2008. At this point, it might be time to dial down the conjecture of Turbin assuming a featured role in the event of a Beast Mode suspension. The Seahawks have their second preseason game against the Broncos on Saturday and it might be a better indicator of their depth chart.
