Ravens running back Ray Rice was held in check by a stout defensive effort by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Ray Rice disappoints fantasy owners with 34 rushing yards in loss to Packers
The Ravens continue to work Ray Rice back from a hip injury sustained earlier in the season, but aren’t getting results. We break down the fantasy implications.

During the 19-17 loss, Rice was bottled up for most of the game and had virtually no room to run. Rice finished the afternoon with 14 carries for 34 yards, and looked tentative and stiff throughout the process. It’s possible that Rice is still experiencing lingering effects from a hip injury sustained earlier in the season, which had previously sidelined him for one game.
Fantasy Spin: Not exactly the output that fantasy owners expected from their consensus first-round pick, but if Rice still isn't at full health, then it's understandable. Rice had a huge fantasy output versus the Dolphins in Week 4 with a pair of touchdowns and 27 carries, but lost in that was his 2.7 yards per carry average. That wasn't a one-time thing though, as Rice's 48 carries for 125 yards since returning from his hip injury also comes to a 2.7 yard-per-carry output. Rice remains a must-start each week he's in the lineup, but he should be viewed as an RB2 until he proves that his hip injury is strictly a thing of the past.
