Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts wants play in the team's Week 7 game against the San Diego Chargers despite having a strained joint in his shoulder area, according to a report by Jaguars' Senior Writer Josh Oesher. Shorts has posted 31 catches for 411 yards and a touchdown in five games this season.
Cecil Shorts hopes to play Sunday for fantasy owners
The Jaguars wide receiver may not be able to go despite is hunger to play in Week 7. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: With superstar receiver Justin Blackmon in the lineup after finishing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, there is no doubt Shorts' fantasy value has taken a substantial hit. Although he has been a reliable possession receiver and the best offensive weapon the Jaguars had in the first four games of the season. Shorts is not as big as Blackmon and not as talented either.
With Shorts missing the team's game against the Denver Broncos last week, Blackmon caught 14 passes for 190 yards in a losing effort. Although Shorts really wants to play, he is still having trouble raising his arms above his head without feeling quite a lot of pain.
There’s no doubt the Jaguars’ offense is much improved with Blackmon back in the lineup. That could offer up more opportunities for Shorts to score, but for now fantasy owners need to stay posted to injury reports before starting him. Its good to see that he wants to play this week, but if he’s still in pain, Shorts probably won’t go.
