The Panthers continue to give Mike Tolbert his fair share of action in the run game, but the veteran back made his biggest impact in the receiving game on Thursday night against the Buccaneers. Tolbert caught four passes for 29 yards and a touchdown in Week 8, also rushing for 35 yards on seven carries.
Mike Tolbert uses receiving stats to help fantasy owners in Week 8
Mike Tolbert hauled in his second receiving touchdown in 2013. We break down the fantasy implications.

Tolbert has now found the end zone in four of seven games for the Panthers this season, further adding to his perception as the “touchdown vulture.”
Fantasy impact: Owners might want to start considering Tolbert as a flex play in deeper leagues. He keeps finding the end zone, and while it isn’t pretty he is effective around the goal line.
Newton hit Tolbert for a 3-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, giving him two receiving touchdowns in 2013. Tolbert didn’t have a single receiving score in all of 2012. As long as Jonathan Stewart is sidelined, Tolbert’s value remains as high as it can be, which is likely a somewhat risky flex play.
