New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland is not going to play against the New Orleans Saints in Week 9, according to a report by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Cumberland had taken over the starting tight end job over the suspended Kellen Winslow earlier this season.
Jeff Cumberland expected out, fantasy backup a must
The Jets tight end is not expected to play. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: The news that Cumberland won’t play against the Saints on Sunday is disappointing. He had become quarterback Geno’s favorite target pretty quickly.
That said, even before he got hurt in the game it looked like Smith was going to wide receiver David Nelson more so than Cumberland. Cumberland's best chance for a touchdown against the Bengals came on a play in the end zone where he was double covered and unable to come up with a jump ball.
Since Winslow will serve the fourth and final game of his suspension by sitting out against the Saints, Konrad Reuland and Zach Sudfeld are next in line to play with Reuland getting the edge between the two.
Neither one of those backup tight ends is expected to make much of a fantasy impact, so Cumberland’s owners are advised look elsewhere for Week 9.
