Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel left early on Thursday night after suffering a knee injury in the third quarter. While scrambling for a 14-yard gain, Manuel took a hit to his right knee instead of stepping out of bounds. He didn’t return to the game after that point.
E.J. Manuel puts fantasy status into question after knee injury
Both starting quarterbacks went down in Thursday night’s matchup. E.J. Manuel wasn’t able to return. We break down the fantasy implications.

Manuel was seen jogging and riding an exercise bike on the sideline, so Buffalo could have simply kept him out as a precaution. Jeff Tuel, an undrafted rookie, took over under center after Manuel exited.
Fantasy impact: Manuel was 11-for-20 passing with 129 yards in his limited action. His No. 1 wideout Stevie Johnson also left with an injury, so the Bills offense was operating with issues from early on.
While Manuel shouldn’t be starting in anyone’s lineup right now, he’s shown upside over the first four weeks, and he become a viable fantasy option in the future. The Bills will likely update his status at some point on Friday.
