Giovani Bernard scores touchdown, totals 95 yards for fantasy owners

Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard was bottled up for most of the game, but when he had got the ball in space, there were times when he capitalized.

Bernard took a screen pass into the end zone from 18 yards out in the second half, and served as a valuable checkdown option for quarterback Andy Dalton throughout most of the game. Dalton spent the afternoon under duress and threw three interceptions versus a Baltimore Ravens secondary that was punishing from the start. Bernard was featured primarily in the fourth quarter and in overtime to get a speedy option in the backfield with the Ravens defense wearing down as the clock ticked.

Fantasy Spin: It was clearly a more favorable day for Bernard in PPR leagues, after finishing the contest with eight catches for 37 yards and the score. Even if he only receives 10-15 touches with BenJarvus Green-Ellis taking early-down reps, Bernard makes for a valuable flex option in leagues of all formats. With two straight games totaling near 100 yards, fantasy owners could do far worse than plugging-in the electric rookie.
