Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel will get the start for his team's Week 15 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Ben Goessling of ESPN. Cassel earns the start over Christian Ponder, who has been fully cleared to practice and play following his concussion.
Matt Cassel to start Week 15, has middling fantasy value
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel will start in Week 15. We break down the fantasy implications.

Ponder has been ineffective this season, though Cassel hasn’t fared much better. Ponder has completed 152-of-239 passes for 1,648 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions. That’s a completion percentage of 63.6. Cassel has completed 94-of-159 passes for 1,122 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Cassel’s completion percentage is just 59.1.
Still, Cassel had a decent day against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. He threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns, and didn't throw an interception. The biggest issue is that he connected on only 17-of-38 passes, a completion percentage of just 44.7.
Fantasy Impact: If you’re still playing meaningful fantasy football games at this stage and you’re concerned with who is starting for the Vikings, then your team has to be rock solid at other positions. For what it’s worth, Cassel throws fewer interceptions than Ponder, and that’s all that really matters. He’ll start, and if for some reason you have to go with him, he’s not an awful option against the Eagles this week.
