Andre Caldwell caught six passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 10 targets in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers. With Wes Welker out Thursday night due to a concussion, Caldwell reaped the benefits playing out of the slot in the Denver Broncos offense.
Andre Caldwell breaks out in fantasy with Wes Welker out
Caldwell stepped up for the injured Welker, filling his slot role nicely. We break down the fantasy implications.

Caldwell opened the game’s scoring with a 15-yard touchdown, and he added his second score of the night in the fourth quarter. If Welker is forced to miss any more time, Caldwell should continue to be featured in a more prominent role.
Fantasy impact: We get to the fantasy playoffs and, of course, Caldwell is the Broncos receiver paying off for the two owners who started him in Week 15. Jacob Tamme was talked up with the absence of Welker looming, but it was the veteran wideout stepping up in the slot role.
The short week forced Welker to sit out, and we can anticipate him being ready for Week 16 with extra time to rest. However, if Welker is inactive again, Caldwell is at least worth a flex play.
