Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamal Charles was carted off the practice field on Monday, but head coach Andy Reid called the injury a "foot strain," according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Reid gave the update following the conclusion of practice (giving Twitter plenty of time to freak out following the initial news), and said that an x-ray was given and came back negative.
Jamaal Charles x-rays come back negative; fantasy value should remain high
Jamaal Charles sustained an injury at practice on Monday, but the x-rays came back negative and fantasy owners should draft with confidence.

It’s great news for the Chiefs, and we’ll probably see Charles held out of a practice or two as a precautionary measure given his importance to Kansas City’s offense. Reid is installing a new pass-first offense, but with new quarterback Alex Smith, meaning Charles would still get plenty of looks, especially as a receiver out of the backfield.
Fantasy Impact: Given that fantasy drafts have already begun, Charles has been a relatively high pick thus far. Many have picked him up in the first round and he remains one of the more popular running backs to take in the first, according to the Fantasy Football Calculator. The news that the x-rays came back negative probably caused a great deal of fantasy owners to exhale in relief. Provided there’s no setbacks, Charles remains an attractive option.
