The Miami Dolphins are trying to find a starting running back to add some much-needed stability behind Ryan Tannehill, the quarterback the team is hoping will become their franchise signal caller. Unfortunately, none of their running backs have separated themselves from the pack and their most recent preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars didn't do much to help that.
Dolphins waiting for Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas to step up for starting role
The Miami Dolphins are still waiting for Lamar Miller or Daniel Thomas to establish themselves as the starting running back. We break down the fantasy implications.

Lamar Miller is listed as the starting running back for now, but he was only in on two carries for six yards, despite taking many of the first-team snaps in practice. In the team's first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, Miller had a costly fumble, as well.
Daniel Thomas has taken some first-team snaps as well, but he hasn't been very effective as well. Mike Gillislee, onas Gray and Marcus Thigpen have all done little to separate themselves from the pack, as well.
The Dolphins will play their third preseason game on Aug. 17, when they take on the Houston Texans on the road. There, Miller and Thomas should get plenty of long looks, but it's doubtful either one really creates separation until the official third game against Tampa Bay.
Fantasy Impact: The Dolphins have a couple of talented running backs, but neither has impressed thus far and if Miller doesn’t step up, the Dolphins may not have much to offer any fantasy owner. Miller has been pegged as a potential breakout star, but at this point in the battle, you shouldn’t be drafting him with any high picks, though if you have a free spot he could be an interesting pickup.
