Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles wasn't practicing with the team on Wednesday, but he was doing rehab work by going up and down the steep hill on the side of the practice field, according to Dave Skretta of the Associated Press.
Jamaal Charles rehabbing alone during Wednesday practice; injury shouldn’t scare fantasy owners
Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was doing solo work on Wednesday. We break down the fantasy implications.

Charles suffered a foot strain in practice and had to be carted off recently, but has since seen two orthopedic doctors and confirmed that there is no ligament damage. As such, Charles is listed as “day to day,” and him going up and down the steep hill is actually solid confirmation that his injury is minor at this point.
It seems unlikely that Charles will play against the San Francisco 49ers in the Week 2 preseason game, but him returning to practice before the game isn't out of the picture. The Chiefs should and probably will play it safe with this injury.
Fantasy Impact: Charles has been a high pick for fantasy owners thus far, and this news should be solid confirmation that it’s still OK to pick him. He’s known as a somewhat injury-prone running back, but this one is minor and if you were going to pick him before, there’s no reason not to pick him now. He should be the focal point of a Chiefs offense in transition, with a new quarterback in Alex Smith, who has always relied on a strong running game throughout his career.
