Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will be available to start the team's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 9, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Griffin is recovering from a January ACL tear, and coming back for this Monday Night Football game puts him back ahead of schedule.
Robert Griffin III to start Week 1, fantasy owners rejoice
Robert Griffin III is set to make the start in Week 1 of the regular season. We break down the fantasy implications.

Throughout the entire offseason, Griffin has been adamant that he’s going to be ready for the game. The Redskins have been trying to temper those expectations, but on Tuesday, Griffin did say that he felt like he was 100 percent or better. He won’t have any preseason action to get ready for the regular season, but he’s been practicing against Washington’s defense for more than a week now and should be able to avoid coming out and looking rusty.
Fantasy Impact: Griffin took the Redskins from the basement of the NFC East to the playoffs last season. He posted a 102.4 quarterback rating last season and is always a threat to run the football. He was always going to be one of the top fantasy quarterbacks, whether he made his return in Week 1 or a couple weeks down the road. This news simply means he’ll jump up a couple spots in most fantasy drafts.
