Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy will have to take on a "larger role," according to left guard Josh Sitton, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. Lacy, a rookie, was expected to split time with DuJuan Harris, a player the Packers really liked. Harris, unfortunately, reinjured his knee in Friday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, and is headed for injured reserve.

Lacy was supposed to be the power back, while Harris was supposed to be the quicker, more agile back. Now, Lacy seems poised to be the starter, and his backup at this point is unclear. Fellow rookie Johnathan Franklin doesn't seem ready to contribute at this point, leaving James Starks and Alex Green as the primary backups.
While most figured Lacy would eventually overtake Harris and get the majority of the carries regardless, it will be interesting to see if he can handle that kind of workload right away. He himself has recently recovered from an injury, but he’s looked good in the preseason.
Fantasy Impact: In the early-goings of training camp, much was said about the Packers having a “frustrating” running back situation for fantasy owners. It’s never good to see injuries settle something like this, but at the end of the day, the Packers are going to try and run the ball more, and Lacy is the guy that will be doing it. He’s not a No. 1 option for fantasy owners by any means, but he might just be a solid boom-or-bust option.
