The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 4-0, and quarterback Alex Smith continued to boost his value as a fantasy football quarterback. Smith finished the game with 288 passing yards, three rushing touchdowns and two interceptions. He also scrambled for 37 yards.
Alex Smith puts together strong fantasy performance against Giants
Alex Smith had a strong day against the New York Giants, improving his stock as a low-end fantasy starter. We break down the implications.

The two interceptions were the first of the season for Smith, but they were not indicative of his performance. One came from a bad drop, and another came as a result of a crazy bobble that eventually ended in the Giants' hands. Smith was efficient for much of the game before putting together a monster fourth quarter with two touchdown passes to Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe.
Fantasy impact: Smith has never been one to wow fantasy owners, but he has quietly developed into a great bye-week replacement, and a solid low-end spot start if you do not have one of the big names.
Smith and the Chiefs travel to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 5. Smith is not a great start against a decent Titans defense, but if you are struggling at quarterback, there are worse options to consider. And if you are in a 2-QB league, Smith is a generally solid start each week.
