Fantasy football projections, Week 6: Chargers-Raiders featuring Philip Rivers, Branden Oliver and Darren McFadden
We break down the Week 6 matchup between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders.

San Diego Chargers
Rookie running back Branden Oliver filled in for an injured Donald Brown (concussion) last week against the New York Jets and absolutely went off. Oliver managed to put together a monster fantasy day with 172 total yards and a pair of touchdowns. He was able to get open in the passing game frequently and find gaps in the Jets' run defense that allowed him to put together his first career 100-yard rushing game. With all of the injuries to the Chargers in the backfield, Oliver has quickly found himself in the feature back role against the Oakland Raiders in Week 6.
If Oliver can repeat the success he had last week, there will be nothing to worry about as many experts are pegging quarterback Philip Rivers as an early season MVP candidate. Rivers should be able to walk all over the Oakland Raiders. He has been on fire for most of the season and is currently completing passes at a clip of 70%. That should be good enough to wreak havoc on a Raiders pass defense that is in the middle of the pack in regard to points conceded to fantasy quarterbacks this season.
Oakland Raiders
Quarterback David Carr (MCL sprain, ankle) is just two weeks removed from suffering two separate injuries but was able to practice earlier in the week, which means that he should get the start against the Chargers. This season has been a learning experience for Carr to say the least, as he has been held to less than 200 passing yards in three of the team's four games. While he did enough to win the starting job in Oakland over veteran Matt Schaub and the Raiders have undergone a change in their coaching staff, it's challenging to be effective as a quarterback when you're always playing from behind.
If Carr does have any chance of keeping the San Diego Chargers closed this week, he may find himself with a reinvigorated running game and hand the ball off a lot to veteran Darren McFadden. McFadden has been considered an elite fantasy rusher in the past, but this year has been a different story as the Raiders have been forced to go down the field and try to play catch-up a lot more than the team would like. That said, the Raiders are expected to commit to the running game more under coach Tony Sparano, so McFadden could be a good midseason pickup for fantasy owners.
