A week after an embarrassing shutout at the hands of the San Diego Chargers, the New York Jets at least didn't embarrass themselves Sunday against the Denver Broncos. The Jets still lost 31-17, but points are progress.
Jets fantasy football recap: Eric Decker, Jace Amaro score; running game falls flat
A couple members of the Jets managed to produce in the receiving game, but oh, the rushing side. Ouch. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Jets’ running game was a disaster Sunday, with the team managing 173 yards passing against only 31 yards on the ground. After a few good rushing days to start the season, that facet of the Jets’ game has fallen apart. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names of note in the game:
At least he didn’t get benched again. After a negative fantasy day a week ago, Smith bounced back with moderate production Sunday, throwing for 190 yards on 23-of-43 passing and putting up two touchdowns against an interception. He also led the team in rushing, but with only 11 yards, that’s not exactly saying much. That stat line was good for 14 fantasy points for Smith, which isn’t special, but after seven combined the last two weeks, it’s a nice improvement.
Coming into Sunday, Ivory was averaging 5.4 yards per carry on the season. That fell half a yard -- to 4.9 -- with Sunday's abysmal performance, which saw the running back carry the ball eight times for only 7 yards. He did catch a ball for 14 yards, so Ivory offered at least one fantasy point in the game, but after a strong start to the season, his numbers have dived so far that he can't be in any lineups. And it's not like fellow running back Chris Johnson did any more, running the ball three times for 9 yards, and catching a pass for 2 more yards. The Jets' three running backs combined for 20 rushing yards, which is ... sad.
If the first-year Jet could stay healthy, he might be able to have a big season, but as it is, he’s alternated productive days and hurt days the last five weeks. Sunday was on the good side, though, as Decker caught six passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in his first game against his former team. As long as Decker can stay healthy, he’s a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3, but let’s see how his leg reacts to his heavy use Sunday.
The rookie second-round pick hadn’t offered much production so far, with 11 total fantasy points in five games. The tight end had a big game Sunday, though, with 10 catches (12 targets) for 68 yards and his first career touchdown. He put up 12 fantasy points in Sunday’s game alone. Amaro has some ways to go before he’s a fantasy starter, but this was a nice put-him-on-the-map game.
