Bears fantasy football recap: Matt Forte feasts while Jay Cutler throws it around

Matt Forte is rolling and Jay Cutler is getting better at finding his receivers. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears look really good on offense and have one of the most balanced attacks in the NFL thanks to Matt Forte. They were able to beat the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome, 27-13, on Sunday. Let's go over their fantasy relevant players:

Jay Cutler

The Bears are clicking in the passing game and Cutler’s 10 yards per attempt was a huge reason why on Sunday. That type of efficiency led to 381 passing yards, one score and no interceptions in the win.

He’s been terrific with respect to his completion percentage and is shattering his career high at 68 percent on the season. Of course, it helps to have arguably the best set of weapons in the league. He’s also on pace for career highs in touchdowns, passer rating, total QBR and has one of his lowest interception rates of his career, too.

He should be a solid QB1 against the Miami Dolphins and has a tremendous schedule until Week 13.

Matt Forte

He is a beast in all-purpose yards and put up his fourth 150-yard game on Sunday. Specifically, he rushed 17 times for 80 yards and two scores, adding 10 catches for 77 yards in the passing game.

He has at least five catches in all six games games this season, so he’s really become the ultimate complement to the field-stretching receivers.

If you're in a PPR league, Forte is easily a top-two player to own right now -- DeMarco Murray being the other one. His fantasy owners can just enjoy the ride.

Alshon Jeffery

He was a monster down the field Sunday with five catches for 136 yards. Jeffery had a touchdown called back, so he was looking at a massive line had that one stuck.

He’s developed remarkable consistency with double-digit fantasy points for standard leagues in each of the last four games. In PPR, he’s averaged a whopping 20.5 points per game in that span.

Fantasy owners should consider him as a top-10 receiver the rest of the way and Brandon Marshall getting healthier doesn't hurt him.

Brandon Marshall

Speaking of Marshall, he had an overdue gem on Sunday with six catches for 113 yards on nine targets. In his previous four games, Marshall averaged just 2.8 catches for 29.3 yards. Not good.

He said earlier last week that his ankle injury from earlier in the season should have cost him four games, so now he’s closer to 100 percent than he’s ever been since Week 1. It showed up on the stat sheet and on the film as he really created some nice separation.

The buy-low window is slammed shut and Marshall should be a WR1 in most fantasy formats, especially PPR leagues.

Martellus Bennett

He was fairly productive yet again with four catches for 52 yards. Bennett is the fourth option in the passing game because Forte is such a force, but he continues to post nice stat lines.

He’ll be a TE1 the rest of the way and only has one dud in six games this season. Fantasy owners will take a success rate of over 80 percent from their tight end every time.
