Fantasy football aftermath: The injuries of Week 6
We lost one, and maybe two, big-name players for the season Sunday. Several others missed Week 6 and could be out longer. Stay tuned.

The good news is that there weren't any significant quarterback injuries in Week 6. Carson Palmer and Derek Carr got healthy (and both performed well), and no one went down.
The bad news is the other positions, where there were new and/or still-bothersome injuries aplenty, including at least one star who went down for the rest of the season. So, sad as it is, time to run through it:
Running back injuries in Week 6
- The Detroit Lions were without Reggie Bush in Sunday's game, out with an ankle injury, but Bush has said there is no chance he misses next week, when the Lions take on Bush's former team, the Saints. Meanwhile, his fill-in replacement, Theo Riddick had a good game before leaving late in the game with an aggravation of his hamstring injury. We'll learn more about Riddick's status in the next few days, but if Bush is back on the field, Riddick isn't that important anyway.
- Knowshon Moreno did get back on the field for the Dolphins Sunday, but wasn't very involved in the team's loss, with 18 total yards from scrimmage. Moreno was basically shut down in the second half, though he doesn't seem to have aggravated his elbow injury so much as Lamar Miller was playing well. Moreno will be eased back into action, and fantasy owners would be wise to have him on the bench until he produces.
- Stevan Ridley led the Patriots in rushing Sunday, but since that was only 23 yards, it wasn't exactly a dominant performance. But Ridley was lost partway through the game to a knee injury, and the Patriots fear it is a torn ACL, which would obviously cost Ridley the rest of the season. In his absence, Shane Vereen becomes more interesting, and so do Brandon Bolden and/or James White.
- The Eagles lost Darren Sproles late in their night game Sunday to a left knee injury. He walked off the field under his own power, but there was some concerns about his stability after the game. With that having been a night game, it's too early to know what Sproles' prognosis is, but it's definitely something that has to be monitored. The Eagles' No. 3 running back, Chris Polk, was already injured, so if the team runs out and signs someone to back up LeSean McCoy Monday, you'll know there's real concern.
Wide receiver injuries in Week 6
- This one stung. Victor Cruz was carted off early in the Eagles-Giants Sunday night game with what the team said almost immediately was a torn patellar tendon. There's basically no chance Cruz returns this season, which should help the value of Larry Donnell, Odell Beckham Jr. and Rueben Randle, but for Cruz, this was awful. If you saw the emotion he showed after the injury, you get it.
- The Bengals and A.J. Green already expect the star wide receiver to miss another game next week as he deals with his recurring toe injury. With Marvin Jones yet to really practice after aggravating his ankle injury, the Bengals will be relying on Mohamed Sanu still. Sanu produced well in Sunday, with 120 receiving yards and a touchdown, and he'll have to continue that. He's a must-own and probably a must-start as long as Green is out.
- We don't know when we'll get Calvin Johnson back on the field, but at least at this point, he and the Lions have appeared to agree to wait until he's fully healthy, rather than continuing to run him out there on a bad wheel, hurting everyone. So listen in early in the week to see Johnson's prognosis for Week 7, but you probably shouldn't be counting on him.
- The Chargers lost Eddie Royal late Sunday with a rib injury. Royal has put up at least 40 yards every game since Week 1, and had five touchdowns in four games including Sunday. Seyi Ajirotutu and Ladarius Green appeared to be the biggest beneficiaries of Royal's absence. With Keenan Allen barely performing, the Chargers' receiving game is a mishmash, and Royal's lost targets -- if he misses any time -- will be scattered among a bunch of options.
Tight end injuries in Week 6
- The Saints didn't have a game Sunday, but Jimmy Graham wouldn't have played in it if they had, as he deals with a shoulder injury. Reports are that Graham is going to miss another two or three weeks, a crushing blow for fantasy owners who burned a first-round pick on Graham, especially those who didn't bother with a backup. The Saints might look to Josh Hill or Ben Watson for some of Graham's targets, but the better bet is that his looks will get spread to the current receivers and running backs -- Brandin Cooks, Marques Colston, Kenny Stills, Pierre Thomas, Khiry Robinson, etc.
