St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff FIsher says running back Zac Stacy wasn't suffering from any injuries on Monday against the San Francisco 49ers, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Fisher said that Stacy's previous calf injury had nothing to do in his lack of touches in the game.
Zac Stacy not injured Monday; lack of carries a concern for fantasy owners
Zac Stacy wasn’t injured Monday night against the 49ers, so his lack of carries was a coaching decision. We break down the fantasy implications.

Stacy carried the ball just eight times, and part of the reason he didn't get any more had to be the fact that he only managed 17 yards on those initial eight carries. Benny Cunningham had seven carries for 21 yards while rookie Tre Mason managed 40 yards off five carries. It's an odd split, but it's not surprising that the Rams wanted to try multiple backs against a tough San Francisco defense.
Fantasy Impact: Stacy had some hype as a fantasy running back coming into this season, but the carry distribution on Monday is a cause for concern for fantasy owners. Stacy has the potential to put up big numbers, but only if he gets the carries and nobody is quite sure if he will. Eventually, Mason might wind up being the every-down back who is worth a fantasy play, but for the time being, the Rams’ running back depth chart should probably be avoided altogether in fantasy leagues.
