San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis did not practice on Thursday due to a back injury. He suffered the injury on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles and is extremely unlikely to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Vernon Davis not likely to have a fantasy impact in Week 5
Vernon Davis is likely out for Week 5. We break down the fantasy implications.

Davis could barely walk off the field after he sustained the injury. He’s had back injuries before and the 49ers will basically need him to heal completely before they can throw him back out on the field. On the bright side, they have their best group of receivers in years, so they won’t miss Davis too much in the passing attack.
With Vernon out, Michael Crabtree will likely get more red-zone looks as long as he can avoid a foot injury. Stevie Johnson and Anquan Boldin will also see an uptick in looks.
Fantasy impact: Davis could miss multiple weeks, so his owners should have a reliable option set for the next couple weeks. That option is unlikely to be on the 49ers, so take a look on your waiver wire.
