Fantasy football projections, Week 5: Bills-Lions featuring Kyle Orton, Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford
We break down the Week 5 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions.

Buffalo Bills
The Bills have named veteran quarterback Kyle Orton the starter over second-year player E.J. Manuel. Manuel was inconsistent in the passing game going back to the preseason and continued to struggle in the regular season. Given that Orton got a two-year deal from the team this summer, there will probably be a battle for the starting job as well. Orton is going to be more of a game-manager at this point in his career, so he's really not going to be a fantasy option against the Lions this week. What it does mean is that C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson should see a lot of action in the running game going forward. Whether the Bills run the ball or pass, they're in tough against a stout Lions defense.
That said, when they do pass it will be to Sammy Watkins. While he only managed four catches for 30 yards against the Houston Texans last week, he did score his second touchdown of the season. There's no doubt he's an explosive player with superstar potential. He's being targeted eight times a game on average, so if Watkins sees more accurate passes from Orton than he did from Manuel, his fantasy value could see quite an uptick as the season progresses. Owners should note the Lions give up the second-fewest fantasy points in the league to wide receivers this year, which means sneaking into the end zone might be the only way Watkins produces this week should Orton need a few snaps under his belt to nail down his timing.
Detroit Lions
Wide receiver Calvin Johnson swears that his ankle injury is feeling better this week than it did last week. That's got to be music to the ears of his fantasy owners, who watched Megatron haul in just two catches for 12 yards against the New York Jets in Week 4. While the Jets are known for defense, Johnson was hobbled by the injury and mostly used as a decoy in the game. Evidence of that is obvious considering he was only targeted twice in the contest, a very low number for a superstar averaging upwards of 11 targets a game through the first three weeks of the season.
Johnson's ankle will have to be in solid shape if he is to be on the receiving end of more tosses from quarterback Matthew Stafford this week. Unlike Johnson, Stafford is 100 percent healthy and firing on all cylinders. His Week 4 performance against the Jets got off to quite the efficient start. He completed six of his first seven passes and tossed two touchdowns before halftime. Even if Johnson is still hobbled due to injury, Stafford should be able to pick apart a Bills pass defense that ranks in the middle of the pack against fantasy quarterbacks.
