Buffalo Bills running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller have battled one another for the top spot in the team's backfield so far this season. If Sunday's game is any indication, the pendulum is swinging Jackson's way, as Spiller barely contributed in Buffalo's 17-14 win over the Detroit Lions.
Fred Jackson shines, C.J. Spiller whiffs for fantasy owners Sunday
One Buffalo running back had a good game, while the other might as well have not shown up. We break down the fantasy implications.

Jackson rushed for 50 yards on 11 carries, adding 58 yards on seven receptions. Spiller, meanwhile, had only 7 rushing yards on nine carries, with three catches for 25 more yards. It was Jackson’s second game this season with more than 100 yards from scrimmage. For Spiller, his 32 yards mark a season worst, though he hasn’t gone over 84 in any of the five games.
Fantasy impact: Ultimately, the presence of both running backs keeps either guy's overall value in check. That said, new starting quarterback Kyle Orton looked Jackson's way a lot in Sunday's game. It seems like Jackson is definitely the guy fantasy owners want in the Buffalo backfield from now on.
Going forward, Jackson looks like a mid-range RB2, while Spiller looks more like a flex play.
