San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates caught two touchdowns against the New York Jets on Sunday, catching four passes for 60 yards on his six targets. Fellow tight end Ladarius Green caught an 8-yard score on his only target.
Antonio Gates continues to be a pleasant surprise in fantasy; Ladarius Green scores
Gates caught a couple TDs against the Jets. We break down the fantasy implications.

Gates bounced back nicely from a two-game drop-off of a combined 38 yards and four catches against the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars. He exploded in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks with three scores and he did have a nice 81-yard game in the season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Philip Rivers historically loves Gates in the red zone and the Chargers have been moving the ball extremely well all season.
Fantasy impact: All the preseason buzz was about Green, but the 34-year-old Gates has been the most productive. He doesn’t run many deep routes any more and the days of him hanging 150-yard games are probably behind him. Fantasy owners can view him as more of a matchup-based TE1 some weeks.
