Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is closer to returning than DeAngelo Williams, according to head coach Ron Rivera, via Steve Reed of the Associated Press. Williams is dealing with an ankle injury and has missed three games already this season, including Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears.
Jonathan Stewart closer to returning than DeAngelo Williams, fantasy value still low for both
Jonathan Stewart is closer to returning from injury than fellow running back DeAngelo Williams. We break down the fantasy implications.

Stewart has a knee injury and has missed the past two games, including the aforementioned Bears game. The two have been the top two running backs in Carolina for a very long time, and injuries to both of them has been a running theme. They’ve exchanged the starting job numerous times, occasionally due to strong play from one or the other, but mostly due to injuries.
Fantasy Impact: Against the Bears, the Panthers had just 90 rushing yards altogether. Darrin Reaves was the primary running back with 11 carries for just 35 yards, while Chris Ogbonnaya had eight carries for 24 yards and a touchdown. Obviously, these guys don't inspire a whole lot of confidence, and both Stewart and Williams are needed back. For fantasy owners, Stewart seems likely to return in time for Week 6 against the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that has allowed 140.0 rushing yards per game on average this season.
