But Newton did say that he isn't 100 percent, and hasn't felt 100 percent "in a long time," according to the report.

Newton says that his ankle injury is not a factor in his poor play this season. The Panthers are 3-6-1, and they rank 19th in the league with 225.4 passing yards per game and 27th with 95.4 rushing yards per game. Newton has completed just 58.1 percent of his passes for 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Derek Anderson was out-playing him, albeit with a limited sample size.
Fantasy Impact: Newton is capable of putting up huge fantasy numbers, but he’s too inconsistent at this point. Him admitting to being hurt isn’t exactly a revelation since few NFL players feel 100 percent at this point in the season. If you were going to start Newton before this news, it shouldn’t change your mind. The fact that he’s been pretty poor, however, should.
