Fantasy football projections, Week 9: Jets-Chiefs featuring Percy Harvin, Chris Ivory and Jamaal Charles
We break down the Week 9 matchup between the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.

New York Jets
After leaving fantasy owners in limbo by suggesting wide receiver Percy Harvin would see limited action in his first game with the team, the Jets' coaching staff proceeded to use him quite a bit. Harvin caught 3 passes on 9 targets for 22 yards and also ran the ball 7 times for 28 yards against the Buffalo Bills last week. His lack of output from all of those targets was largely a product of horrific quarterback play from Geno Smith and Michael Vick throughout the game. Harvin should be in for better totals with Vick getting his first start of the season in Week 9, which may finally allow for some consistency and rhythm to the offense.
Of course, when a team struggles in the passing game, it means the running game has to move the ball. In New York, it means Chris Ivory is the guy for fantasy owners to own. After coming into the season neck and neck with Chris Johnson, Ivory has managed to separate himself by outplaying his teammate. Ivory has 150 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 34 carries in the last two games. He only has a pair of 100-yard games this season and a Sunday afternoon matchup at Arrowhead Stadium isn't exactly what the doctored ordered for a running back, but he could be in for a sneaky good day in Week 9 based on his expected volume of work.
Kansas City Chiefs
As has generally been the case over the last number of years, the Chiefs' offense will rely on running back Jamaal Charles in Week 9. Charles has numbers similar to Ivory over the last two games; 36 carries, 162 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. He found pay dirt twice against the St. Louis Rams last week and although he'll be up against a very good Jets' run defense, that defense will be tired from being on the field a lot on Sunday. That likely means steady production for Charles in the second half of the game, and smiles on the faces of his fantasy owners.
When the Chiefs do go through the air, wide receiver Dwayne Bowe could finally break through and catch his first touchdown pass of the season. It wasn't too long ago that Bowe had a breakout season and found himself among the fantasy world's elite, and the Jets are bound to get blown out against a team coming off of back-to-back wins. In those wins, Bowe has caught 11 of the 13 passes thrown his way, so although he's not racking up touchdowns or 100-yard games this year, Week 9 could see him rack up the best numbers he's had all season.
