Fantasy football projections, Week 9: Chargers-Dolphins featuring Philip Rivers, Branden Oliver and Mike Wallace

The Week 9 matchup between the San Diego Chargers and the Miami Dolphins features one team looking to end a losing streak while the other tries to start a winning streak. We've got the fantasy projections for you courtesy of numberFire.

It should come as no surprise to anybody that the Chargers got bounced by the Denver Broncos last week. Fantasy owners of quarterback Philip Rivers can't be too upset about it, though. He threw a trio of touchdown passes in the losing effort and still managed to put up 251 passing yards against a pretty good secondary unit. He'll face a defense that is almost as good when he takes on the Dolphins in Week 9, but he's been on fire the entire season so that shouldn't come as a concern to anybody. Rivers should continue to light things up in Miami.

Running back Branden Oliver will take the ball on the ground whenever Rivers needs a break from throwing touchdowns. Oliver was largely held in check by the Broncos last week and he rushed for just 36 yards as a result. With teammate Ryan Matthews still likely to return following the team's bye week in Week 10, it means Oliver gets one more shot against the Dolphins to show the coaching staff that he deserves to steal some carries from Matthews when he does make his return.

Running back Lamar Miller totaled 99 yards on 17 touches against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Although he had his streak of three straight games with a touchdown snapped in the contest, Miller has been a very productive Option B in the running games of his fantasy owners this season. The Chargers have been mediocre against the run this season and with Miami's passing game struggling, Miller could be counted on a lot to move the ball down the field on Sunday.

As is usually the status quo when the passing game isn't clicking, receivers and quarterbacks will start to get upset about things. Mike Wallace publicly voiced his frustrations following the team's win last week as most of the Dolphins' scoring came as a result of the defense. Like Miller, Wallace also had his three-game scoring streak snapped against the Jaguars. Despite the fact he has yet to notch a 100-yard game this year, Wallace does have touchdowns in six out of eight games this season.
