Tony Romo will not play in Week 9 for the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Network's Desmond Purell. Brandon Weeden will get the start in his place after Romo decided on Saturday evening he could not play Sunday. Romo injured his back on Monday Night Football, and only returned to that game after receiving a shot for the pain. He sat out practice all week.
Tony Romo will not play, according to reports, fantasy owners should consider other options
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to be without quarterback Tony Romo in Week 9. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy impact: There are six teams on bye this week, so Brandon Weeden would only be a desperation plea for fantasy owners. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten are downgraded a little bit in quality for Week 9, but are still guys you want to start. Weeden came on for part of the Cowboys' Week 8 loss to Washington, and right off the bat tried to force some things to Bryant. However, look for the Cowboys to focus even more on the run.
The bigger question is how long Romo will be out. He could conceivably come back in Week 10, but the Cowboys have a bye in Week 11. If Weeden is serviceable, Romo could get next week off to give him a full three weeks to recover. If Weeden looks strong and/or the Cowboys defeat the Cardinals, it would not be a surprise to see Romo sit in Week 10.
