Since Tony Romo's back was aggrivated in Week 8 against the Washington Redskins, there's been plenty of speculation that the Dallas Cowboys would keep their quarterback off the field against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday. It appears as though the decision is official; Romo will sit out for the week. Romo has a history of pleading his case to play at the last minute, so there was always the possibility that he could find a way onto the field today. The injury is presumably serious enough to keep on the sidelines, leaving Brandon Weeden as Dallas' starter for the week. It seems as though Romo could return in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tony Romo injury update: Cowboys QB is inactive vs. Cardinals, Brandon Weeden provides little fantasy consolation
Tony Romo is out. Brandon Weeden is in. We take a look at the fantasy implications for Week 9.

Fantasy impact: There's a lot to digest here. First and foremost, Brandon Weeden's fantasy output is a risky proposition. While Weeden is protected by one of the league's best offensive lines and supported by an outstanding running game, he's still prone to making mistakes. The Cardinals have a leaky pass defense, and Weeden has plenty of opportunity to exploit it. Still, Weeden is a desperation play and should only be considered in two-quarterback leagues. Wide receivers Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams take a small hit by Weeden's presence. It's more likely that Williams suffers, as Weeden may rely on Bryant to fault as his top target. However, DeMarco Murray should continue to be a top RB option in fantasy leagues with Joseph Randle likely seeing a handful of carries as well.
