Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will not play against the Arizona Cardinals. It will be Brandon Weeden as the starter in the Week 9 home game against the team with the best record in the NFC.
Should fantasy owners in a tight spot look to Brandon Weeden?
Tony Romo is out and it’ll be Brandon Weeden under center against the Cardinals. We break down the fantasy implications.

Weeden did get some reps with the starters this week and he actually looked good in the preseason, too. In his short time last week, he even posted a 145.1 passer rating, completing four of his six passes for 69 yards and one score against Washington.
He gets an awesome matchup this week against the Cardinals, who have been the ninth-easiest matchup for fantasy quarterbacks. Their defense can’t cover receivers out wide and have been vulnerable to the deep ball.
In an ideal situation, the Cowboys would just run the ball 40 times, but Arizona is third against the run, allowing a league-low 3.3 yards per carry. In other words, they’ll need Weeden to do more than just manage the game.
Fantasy impact: He’s not an option in 10- and 12-team leagues, but Weeden is more of a QB15-20 this week.
