Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (commissioner's exempt list) pleaded no contest to child abuse charges on Tuesday and his lawyer stated Wednesday that Peterson hopes to play when the Vikings come out of their bye week to face the Chicago Bears in Week 11, according to ProFootballTalk. Earlier this season, it was reported that Peterson would not play at all this year.

Fantasy Impact: Peterson’s possible return to the Vikings this season would obviously provide a major league boost to the franchise and to AP’s fantasy owners. Rookie Jerick McKinnon has done an admirable job in his absence and appears to be the future star back of the Vikings even if Peterson returns to finish this season.
There’s a good chance fantasy owners have already jumped to claim Peterson off the waiver wire, as the NFL doesn’t appear to have legal grounds to keep Peterson out of football now that he’s been handed a punishment that does not include jail time.
Though it looks like he will return this year after all, there’s still some red tape to go through. Fantasy owners are advised to add Peterson immediately and play the waiting game given he’d make a big impact in the fantasy playoffs.
