Indianapolis Colts running backs Trent Richardson and Dan Herron are still fully entrenched in a time-share situation, according to ESPN's Mike Wells. Richardson has 21 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown over the last two weeks while Herron has posted 153 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries over that same span.
Dan Herron, Trent Richardson in a timeshare, fantasy value limited
While one running back is clearly outplaying the other, the coaching staff isn’t ready to commit just yet. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: for whatever reason, the Colts’ coaching staff keeps giving Richardson every opportunity to stay involved in the offense, even though he’s been consistently outplayed by multiple Colts’ running backs since joining the team last season.
Herron is definitely gaining an edge on his teammate, however, despite the fact the coaching staff remains noncommittal in terms of naming either player the feature back. It’s only a matter of time before he starts to get more of the touches.
Make no mistake about it, Richardson was a highly-touted rusher coming out of college, but his abilities and potential just haven’t been realized at the NFL level.
Fantasy owners should understand that the fantasy value of both players is limited while they are handcuffing each other, but Herron may pull away before the fantasy postseason comes to an end.
