Vernon Davis suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Chicago Bears. He did not return and was later seen using crutches in the locker room.
Vernon Davis ends fantasy day early with ankle injury
The 49ers starting tight end left the game in the fourth quarter after injuring his ankle, and he was reportedly on crutches later on in the locker room.

Davis caught three passes for 39 yards prior to the injury. He was carted off the field and will likely undergo several tests on Monday to determine the severity of his situation.
Fantasy impact: That was the start the San Francisco 49ers were hoping for in their first game at their new stadium. Backup tight end Vance McDonald hurt his knee in Week 2, so the tight end depth chart is looking depleted at the moment.
Davis had a relatively quiet night after catching two touchdown passes in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. He’s a boom-or-bust option, but he ability to score keeps him in TE1 status. We’ll hope this isn’t a high ankle sprain he’s dealing with. Keep a close eye on Davis’ status if you own him.
