Jordy Nelson caught nine passes for 83 yards on 14 targets against the Seahawks in the NFL regular season opener. Aaron Rodgers wasted no time getting his top receiver heavily involved in the Packers passing game on Thursday night.
Jordy Nelson is heavily targeted in fantasy opener
There doesn’t appear to be any debate as to who the No. 1 target for Aaron Rodgers is in the Packers passing game.

While Nelson saw plenty of targets, he struggled to make much happen after the catch as the Packers were outmatched by the Seahawks secondary. Nelson was targeted a few times in the end zone, but he wasn’t able to score in Week 1.

Fantasy impact: It wasn’t a bad night for Nelson, although it sort of felt like one while owners were watching the game. Obviously PPR leagues aren’t disappointed with a 17-point showing. There will be better performances to come.
Nelson did not match up with Richard Sherman for any passing snaps. Instead he saw coverage mostly from Byron Maxwell, another talented corner in the Seahawks secondary. Nelson couldn’t come up with a deep reception against Seattle, but that should change in Week 2 when he faces the Jets.
