Rob Gronkowski injury update: Patriots TE questionable, tentatively expected to play for fantasy owners
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is listed is questionable but is expected to be available for Week 1. We break down the fantasy implications.

Fantasy Impact: While it seems like Gronkowski will be involved in the Patriots’ game plan, the extent isn’t quite as clear. Still less than eight months removed from surgery to repair his torn ACL and MCL, pushing him to his limit in Week 1 wouldn’t be the wisest move. However, Gronkowski’s production speaks for itself and owners still need to give him serious starting consideration even with the potentially reduced snap count.
Assuming that Gronkowski plays somewhere between 25 to 50 percent of the snaps, his fantasy value will largely depend on your league’s scoring settings. He will have the most value in touchdown-heavy leagues with the red zone being the one place that the Patriots are all but guaranteed to make sure he gets some work. He will offer less but still significant value in PPR leagues assuming he plays about half of the snaps. Gronkowski is a boom-or-bust TE1 until he shows that he’s completely recovered and can handle a full workload.
