We break down the Week 5 matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans.
Buffalo Bills
Last week was an uphill battle for the Bills. They got crushed by the New York Giants at home. Despite the loss and the fact the team was missing both running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Sammy Watkins due to injury, quarterback Tyrod Taylor still posted some fantasy value for his owners. He’s been a solid fantasy contributor all year long despite the fact he’s still learning how to be a starter. If either McCoy or Watkins are able to step back in the lineup this week, it should make Taylor a valuable starter against Tennessee.
Speaking of valuable starters, tight end Charles Clay has quietly turned himself into one of the best fantasy tight ends of this young season so far. In the last two weeks combined he’s managed 14 catches for 192 yards and a touchdown. Last week was particularly encouraging given that Clay saw 13 targets. Even when both McCoy and Watkins return to the lineup, Clay should find a way to get his share of looks down the middle of the field. He’s been a great late round draft pick/waiver wire pick up for fantasy owners this year.
Tennessee Titans
Only two NFL teams have given him more passing yards to opposing offenses than the Buffalo Bills this season. That should be music to the years of quarterback Marcus Mariota, who is looking like one of the more seasoned players to come out of the 2015 NFL Draft so far. In a shootout against the Indianapolis Colts two weeks ago, Mariota threw for a career high 367 yards and two touchdown passes. He did throw two costly interceptions in the game but still end of the day with decent totals. Despite the fact the Bills are known for their defense, finding the open man down the field shouldn’t be a problem for Mariota on Sunday.
Some of his passes should fall into the hands of tight end to Delanie Walker. Walker returned to the lineup prior to the team’s bye and caught seven passes for 68 yards against the Colts. Given the only real pass catching fantasy option outside of walker is wide receiver Kendall Wright, the tight end should be busy against the Bills. Walker isn’t going to be a fantasy stud from week to week, but he can be a healthy contributor.
