The Green Bay Packers have lived up to the billing this year, starting out 5-0 with a plus-56 point differential. The San Diego Chargers have scuffled much more, coming into Week 6 at 2-3 after a last-second loss Monday night. On Sunday, they play one another.
Fantasy football advice, Week 6: Who to start/sit for Chargers vs. Packers
Green Bay puts its undefeated season on the line against San Diego.
The Chargers will likely be without wide receiver Stevie Johnson for a second straight week Sunday as he deals with a hamstring issue. On the Packers’ side, wide receivers Randall Cobb, James Jones and Davante Adams are all on the injury report. Cobb and Jones should be fine to play, while Adams is much more questionable. The team might hold him out Sunday to give him the Week 7 bye to recover as well.
San Diego will travel to Wisconsin for Sunday’s game in Green Bay with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
CHARGERS
Start ‘em: The struggles of the San Diego offensive line make Danny Woodhead, who catches more passes than he does run the ball, the more appealing option of the team’s top two running backs. ... Keenan Allen is a must-start receiver even in a not-great matchup. ... Antonio Gates had a huge 2015 debut, and easily re-established himself as a must-start tight end.
Start ‘em?: It’s been a strong season for Philip Rivers, who would be a must-start in a neutral matchup. Green Bay, though, is strong enough against opposing quarterbacks that Rivers slides down just a little. ... Better days are ahead for Melvin Gordon, who hasn’t wowed yet as a rookie. ... Josh Lambo in Lambeau Field? Something significant has to happen, right?
Sit ‘em: Here’s betting one of the team’s secondary pass-catchers -- Malcom Floyd, Dontrelle Inman, Ladarius Green -- has a decent game Sunday. But good luck figuring out who. ... Nope, not the Chargers’ defense, not against that offense.
PACKERS
Start ‘em: Not sure what point I’m supposed to make about Aaron Rodgers at this point. He good. Use him. ... Look, I don’t know what to tell you about Eddie Lacy. If you have him, you still have to use him. It’s been awful. Best of luck. ... Randall Cobb and James Jones are both must-starts, though at opposite ends of that particular spectrum. Cobb is an easy WR1, while Jones is a borderline WR2. ... Mason Crosby and the Packers’ defense are totally startable options. I just don’t have anything else to say about them.
Start ‘em?: Through five games, Richard Rodgers has alternated good games and bad. He’s not a great option, but he has TD upside.
Sit ‘em: Even if he plays -- and he likely won’t -- give Davante Adams a week on the bench just to show he can be what we thought he’d be.
