Though Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck didn't prematurely exit Week 3's win due to injury, there is a real chance he misses Week 4 vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Andrew Luck ‘legitimately questionable’ for Colts, fantasy owners on Sunday, per report
The Colts’ signal caller is dealing with a shoulder injury that could keep him out of Week 4’s divisional contest. We break down the fantasy implications.
Luck had thrown lightly on Thursday before being shut down by coaches, according to Schefter's report, which also included that Luck is now unlikely to throw at all before Sunday due to his shoulder injury. Making matters more difficult for the Colts' staff is that they have a Week 5 game vs. the Houston Texans on a Thursday night, meaning Luck would have short rest after what would likely be an arduous game to get through on Sunday.
On Friday, the Colts signed Josh Johnson, which could be an indication that they don't expect Luck to play.
Fantasy impact: Luck's owners should absolutely explore a contingency plan if they have not already, given the several factors going against him. Matt Hasselbeck would get the start in his place, but isn't worth more than a dart throw as a low-end QB2. Even if Luck starts, at far less than 100 percent, downgrades across the board can be given to Donte Moncrief, T.Y. Hilton, Coby Fleener and Frank Gore.
What was once a juicy matchup for fantasy owners who invested in the Colts offense now looks anything but. Injury reports will have to be monitored, but a mid-week reassessment of fantasy lineups is now mandatory.
