Coming off their first win of the season, the Detroit Lions look to make it two in a row Sunday. They’ll do that against NFC North rivals the Minnesota Vikings, who are 3-2 despite the second-fewest points scored across the league so far.
Fantasy footbhall advice, Week 7: Who to start/sit for Vikings vs. Lions
It’s an NFC North matchup featuring a winning team and one that just got its first win.
Several of the Vikings were on the weekly injury report, though all four fantasy contributors -- running backs Adrian Peterson and Matt Asiata and wide receivers Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright -- are expected to play Sunday. The Lions have even more players on the injury report. They’re expected to get tight end Eric Ebron back from injury, and the rest -- running backs Joique Bell and Theo Riddick and wide receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate -- should all be fine to play.
The Lions host the Vikings Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
VIKINGS
Start ‘em: Week 6 was not special for Adrian Peterson, but considering the troubles of the running back position in general, he’s still an obvious must-start. ... The Vikings’ defense is an above-average unit, facing what has so far been a below-average offense.
Start ‘em?: The Vikings struggle to score points in mass quantities, but they do enough to give Blair Walsh some fairly consistent play.
Sit ‘em: It’s been a disappointing sophomore campaign for Teddy Bridgewater who needs to sit on fantasy benches until he shows more. ... Unless something changes, this is probably the last week that Jerick McKinnon or Matt Asiata even garner mention in this space; they’ve combined for eight fantasy points all season. ... There’s such confusion among the Minnesota wide receivers that you probably just want to bench all of them, even Stefon Diggs and Mike Wallace. ... Kyle Rudolph hasn’t been good at all this year.
LIONS
Start ‘em: You were still using Calvin Johnson every week even when the results weren’t there, but now that the results match the ability, there isn’t any question at all.
Start ‘em?: After a monster Week 6, it might be tempting to toss Matthew Stafford back into fantasy lineups, and he might be a fine QB2, but personally, I’d like to see him do it once more before using him. ... If you’re using a Detroit running back, it’s probably Theo Riddick, who is the only one who doesn’t appear to be out of favor. ... Things have gotten slightly better for Golden Tate of late, but he’s still a low-floor option. ... Eric Ebron was looking decent before his Week 4 injury. If he’s healthy, he has potential. ... Matt Prater has increased his fantasy production four games in a row. ... The Lions’ defense isn’t great, but with Bridgewater’s struggles, there might be some use there.
Sit ‘em: Riddick has moved past both Ameer Abdullah and Joique Bell in the team’s pecking order.
