Fantasy football projections, Week 4: Vikings-Broncos featuring Adrian Peterson, Peyton Manning and Emmanuel Sanders
We break down the Week 4 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos.
Minnesota Vikings
While the Denver Broncos may be struggling with their running game, Adrian Peterson is clearly taking very good care of that for the Vikings. He shocked fantasy owners with a lackluster effort in the opening week of the season, but in the two games since, Peterson is showing he's back to being the player fantasy owners know and love. 49 carries for 260 yards and two touchdowns in those games is proof of that, and that's without even mentioning his reception totals.
When Peterson does rack up the receptions, Teddy Bridgewater will be the guy dishing them out. The sophomore quarterback threw for just 121 yards last week. It's clear that he's become more of a game manager than a fantasy stud, but he may be a good play against the Broncos given that the Vikings will likely be playing catch-up late in the contest. Competing against Peyton Manning usually brings out high-volume passing numbers from opposing gunslingers.
Denver Broncos
While Denver goes into Week 4 with an undefeated record, the team has been far from impressive. They were lucky to walk away from Kansas City with a win two weeks ago, and again fortunate last week against the Detroit Lions. That said, Manning has played better in those two games and his momentum should continue to build against the Vikings. It's clear that he won't repeat the numbers he put up last year, but at the same time, Manning seems to have found his rhythm.
That's good news for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders made a fantastic catch late in the fourth quarter, taking the ball away from Lions defensive back Darius Slay. It sealed the win for the Broncos and allowed Sanders to finish with six catches for a total of 87 receiving yards. Sanders is among the league's elite possession receivers, and the Vikings won't do anything different to change that on Sunday.
