Fantasy football projections, Week 4: Browns-Chargers featuring Travis Benjamin, Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen
We break down the Week 4 matchup between the Cleveland Browns and San Diego Chargers.
Cleveland Browns
After fantasy owners were somewhat skeptical of picking up wide receiver Travis Benjamin in the first two weeks of the season, his stock certainly went up in time for him to be rostered by the majority of owners last week. He continues to deliver despite limited reception numbers. He he hasn't caught more than four passes in a game this season, yet Benjamin has four touchdowns to go with 289 receiving yards. He's clearly going to make his hay as a deep threat and he should get open at least a few times against the Chargers.
Benjamin's passes will come from quarterback Josh McCown. McCown returned last week after missing the team's Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans thanks to a concussion. He posted 341 passing yards and two touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders last week in an effort to overcome a giant deficit. The team lost but outside of Benjamin, McCown is probably the next best fantasy option on Cleveland's roster going forward.
San Diego Chargers
Quarterback Philip Rivers had the Chargers looking like a mess against the Minnesota Vikings last week. He committed two costly turnovers in the game and threw for 246 yards completing just 21 passes for the second week in a row. He'll likely be better against the Cleveland Browns even if Joe Haden is on the other side of the football. Rivers' numbers will inevitably bounce back in the long run, but his play in the last two weeks may have cost fantasy owners dearly.
His poor play didn't hurt wide receiver Keenan Allen last week. Allen scored both of the Chargers' touchdowns in the loss and finished with 12 catches for 133 yards. He now has two monster performances in three games under his belt. It looks like the rookie version of Allen is back after a rough 2014 campaign.
