Fantasy football projections, Week 4: Rams-Cardinals featuring Todd Gurley, Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald
We break down the Week 4 matchup between the St. Louis Rams and the Arizona Cardinals.
St. Louis Rams
Todd Gurley finally made his much awaited NFL debut last week after missing the start of the season trying to come back from a knee injury. Fantasy owners who held onto him this long were probably disappointed once the game against the Steelers was over. He ran for just 9 yards on six carries and it appears it's going to take a while for him to become a factor in the fantasy world as Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham still figure to be in the mix going forward.
Things don't look much better for quarterback Nick Foles. He's going into a tough match up against a Cardinals team that is in the eyes of many, the hottest in the league. The Rams' offense has been atrocious since beating the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. The only chance the Rams have of beating the Cardinals is if Foles guns the ball down the field consistently and puts together a surprising performance. That's a highly unlikely proposition.
Arizona Cardinals
Everything is just peachy for Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals these days. The team has put up at least 31 points in every game so far this season thanks to Palmer's solid play and added contributions from the defense. While the Rams do boast a solid defense in their own right, the Cardinals should be able to keep that defense on the field for most of the game, which means it's only a matter of time before Palmer puts up his numbers for fantasy owners.
Palmer's solid play should only further the resurrection of wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The future Hall of Famer had just two touchdowns last season but this year he's already managed to catch five. It appears moving to the slot has made all the difference in the world. With the Cardinals rolling, Fitzgerald is back to being a top fantasy option and it looks like he'll be one of the biggest surprises of 2015 even though his career resume speaks for itself.
