Fantasy football projections, Week 4: Packers-49ers featuring Aaron Rodgers, James Jones and Carlos Hyde
We break down the Week 4 matchup between the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.
Green Bay Packers
This just in...the Green Bay Packers are rolling. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw five touchdown passes against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football last week. Rodgers is already one of the greatest of all time and it’s looking like his 2015 is going to further cement his place among the best. The 49ers got scorched by the Arizona Cardinals last week and there’s a good chance the Packers are going to continue that trend on Sunday.
Rodgers’ ability to exploit defenses this year and a Week 3 injury to teammate Davante Adams means veteran James Jones is re-emerging as a legitimate fantasy starter in deep leagues. He started out the season as somewhat of a red zone specialist, but that changed last week when Jones caught seven passes for 139 yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs, giving him four scores on the season.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are in trouble. The team is 1-2 and last week Colin Kaepernick threw four interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals. The game was over before it began, and Kap finished with just 67 yards passing. Fantasy owners may want to bet on him putting together a bounce-back game this week, at least in fantasy terms. He’ll likely put up big numbers in garbage time while the Packers are handing him his third loss in a row.
Perhaps running back Carlos Hyde will end up scoring some easy points too, which his owners could use. After scorching the Minnesota Vikings back in Week 1, Hyde has just 94 yards rushing since. While Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs only managed 49 yards against Green Bay last week, he scored three times. Similar numbers for Hyde this week would make his owners happy.
