Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins will not play against the New York Giants on Sunday. He is dealing with a calf injury and did not practice this week.
Sammy Watkins injury update: No fantasy value this week
Sammy Watkins is out for Sunday. We break down the fantasy implications.
It will be Watkins’ first game on the sidelines, but he’s been on the injury report with several leg injuries. The second-year receiver had a ton of muscle pulls last year and it kept him limited throughout the season. He also had a hamstring issue in the preseason. The Bills may want him to get healthy for later in the season with Buffalo hopeful for the playoffs.
With Watkins out, it should be receivers Percy Harvin and Robert Woods getting most of the snaps and targets. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor likes to throw the ball down the field, so it may be Woods benefiting the most -- Harvin is more of a slot guy while Chris Hogan will likely lineup outside.
Fantasy impact: The Bills do get a good matchup with the Giants ranking as the 20th-best matchup for fantasy receivers. Still, Harvin is only a WR3 in a PPR while Woods is more of a 16-team option. They both have nice upside, though.
