Fantasy football projections, Week 8: Giants-Saints featuring Odell Beckham Jr., Eli Manning and Drew Brees

We break down the Week 8 matchup between the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints.

The Week 8 matchup between the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints features two fantasy quarterbacks that are capable of putting up high yardage totals, something they have done well most of the year. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire.

New York Giants

The time for Peyton Manning to pass the brotherly torch for most dominant Manning in the NFL down to Eli has come, but the last two weeks wouldn’t necessarily help you arrive at that conclusion. That’s because Eli has posted a season-low yardage total in each of the last two games. He threw for just 170 yards last week which is not what we have become accustomed to seeing from Manning this season. He should get back on his game this Sunday given he’s up against a Saints defense that has given up the most fantasy points in the NFL to fantasy quarterbacks.

A juicy matchup for Manning likely means a big day for wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. too. Beckham has just 95 yards receiving combined in the last two games, but keep in mind that is of course a reflection of Manning’s play and the flow of the games the team has been involved with in the last two weeks. Beckham should be ripe and ready to scorch New Orleans this week. Fantasy owners will be happy with his production.

New Orleans Saints

Much like Eli Manning, Saints quarterback Drew Brees produced limited fantasy results last week. He matched his season-low with just 255 yards passing in a win over the Indianapolis Colts. His struggles to produce however were for a much different reason. The Saints had success with the running game. That’s been a rare occurrence this season so Brees should be much better against the Giants in Week 8.

Those who are going to gamble on the Saints running game this week should go ahead and plug-in Mark Ingram. He rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown against the Colts. Ingram’s performance represented his best game of the season as he had yet to crack the 100-yard rushing mark all year previously. Perhaps he’s in for a second big game against the Giants. With the Saints fighting to get back into the thick of things in the NFC South, they will need all the help they can get outside of their quarterback.
