Josh McCown injury update: Browns QB a game-time decision for fantasy owners
The ailing Browns quarterback may not get the nod under center for Week 8. We break down the fantasy implications.
Quarterback Josh McCown will be a game-time decision, according to the Cleveland Browns' official web site.
McCown injured his shoulder in Week 7's loss to the St. Louis Rams and had to exit the game early because of it. As a result, he practiced at a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday and was held out on Wednesday.
Multiple reports have suggested McCown will start, but available information conflicts, meaning the Browns’ signal caller will be a true game-time call.
Fantasy impact: Fortunately, fantasy owners will know sooner than later about McCown's availability since the Cardinals and Browns kick off at 1 p.m. ET, leaving plenty of backup options available.
However, at less than 100 percent and against the defense that leads the NFL in interceptions, fantasy owners should have already prepared to bench McCown regardless.
McCown can be considered a low-end QB2 for Week 8, and if he sits, the values of Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge can be downgraded, as well.
