There’s an incredible number of undefeated teams still going in Week 8 of the NFL season, with five teams sitting with a zero in the loss column. Even considering that, it’s great to see two undefeated teams square off, as the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers face off at 6-0 Sunday night.
Fantasy football advice, Week 8: Who to start/sit for Packers vs. Broncos on Sunday night
A Week 8 game between two undefeated teams doesn’t need my help for hype.
The Packers expect to get wide receiver Davante Adams back on the field for the first time since early in Week 3 Sunday. Running back James Starks is questionable with a hip injury, and will likely come down to a game-time decision. Wide receiver Ty Montgomery is unlikely to play with an ankle injury. For the Broncos, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and tight end Owen Daniels are both on the injury report, but both are expected to be fine or Sunday.
The Broncos host the Packers Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the fantasy names to consider:
PACKERS
Start ‘em: Even off of an underwhelming string of games (16 points per game in his last three) and facing a great defense, Aaron Rodgers is still Aaron Rodgers. ... With James Starks banged up and Eddie Lacy getting healthy, Lacy makes for a fine low-end starting running back. ... Randall Cobb is normally a WR1. Facing Denver, he’s more like a WR2, but that’s still a starter. ... The Packers’ defense gets a Denver offense that has looked bad all year.
Start ‘em?: If the Denver defense really does its thing against a good offense, Mason Crosby could have his kicking chances limited.
Sit ‘em: The Denver defense makes using the secondary Green Bay offensive contributors -- James Starks, James Jones, Davante Adams, Richard Rodgers -- a scary proposition.
BRONCOS
Start ‘em: One way or another, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have gotten their fantasy numbers all year long. ... Brandon McManus has averaged 14 fantasy points a game. ... The Broncos’ defense has been the league’s best. Even against a great offense, you’re using the unit and hoping.
Start ‘em?: The running back mess in Denver is confusing, and makes Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson both middle flex plays with as much downside as upside.
Sit ‘em: How can you possibly trust Peyton Manning at this point? He has 23 fantasy points in his last three games combined. ... Owen Daniels has been an awful fantasy player this year.
SUMMARY
Start in every league: Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy, Randall Cobb, Green Bay defense, Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Brandon McManus, Denver defense
Start if you’re desperate: Mason Crosby, Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson
Bench: James Starks, James Jones, Davante Adams, Richard Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Owen Daniels
