Fantasy football projections, Week 10: Dolphins-Eagles featuring Jarvis Landry, DeMarco Murray and Jordan Matthews
We break down the Week 10 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Miami Dolphins
Don’t look now, but quarterback Ryan Tannehill is putting up atrocious fantasy numbers all of a sudden. After throwing at least two touchdown passes in five straight games, Tannehill has been completely shut out by the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills in consecutive weeks. Throw two interceptions on top of that and you have yourself some really bad numbers. Hopefully a matchup against a generous Eagles secondary unit will help Tannehill rebound. If he doesn’t get his act together soon, both fantasy owners and the Dolphins could find themselves facing a significant deficit in the standings.
Speaking of the Eagles’ lackluster secondary unit, it should allow wide receiver Jarvis Landry to capitalize. Believe it or not, Landry actually performed pretty well last week if his busy afternoon against the Bills counted points for receptions in your fantasy league. He caught a season-high 11 passes in the game, so although zero touchdowns and 140 receiving yards over a two-week span can be concerning for a heavily targeted fantasy receiver, Landry will likely have better numbers this week in Philadelphia just because he’s so important to the team.
Philadelphia Eagles
In one of the more exciting finishes of the season, the Eagles managed to walk out of Dallas with an overtime win over the Cowboys last week. The team has wide receiver Jordan Matthews to thank for that. Matthews caught nine passes for 133 yards and his second touchdown of the season, a 41-yard game winner in the extra frame. Matthews and the Eagles offense as a whole hasn’t delivered anywhere near the fantasy value people thought it would this year. Maybe Matthews can help change people’s minds with a second big game in a row against the Dolphins.
If Matthews can’t provide offense again, which sometimes seems like it would be the more likely scenario anyway, running back DeMarco Murray will have to be a workhorse. He got off to a super slow start this season and has only been a shadow of his former self. The good news is that he has been able to perform lately. Murray has found the end zone in three of the last four games. On the downside, he’s only crossed 100 yards rushing once this season. Murray will be hard-pressed to do that against Miami this week.
