Fantasy football projections, Week 10: Saints-Washington featuring Drew Brees, Willie Snead and DeSean Jackson
We break down the Week 10 matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Washington.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints got off to a rough start this season with Drew Brees sitting out some time thanks to a shoulder injury. Just as they looked to be turning the corner, Brees and the boys dropped a home game to the lowly Tennessee Titans last week. Brees’ fantasy stats didn’t know the difference, however. He threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns. The performance gave Brees at least 300 yards passing in seven of the eight games he’s played this year. Washington is about to face one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL. Brees should have a field day in Week 10.
Hopefully that helps the team’s top receiver get back into the end zone for the first time in a while. No, we’re not talking about Brandin Cooks. We’re talking Willie Snead here. Snead caught six passes for 95 yards against the Titans last week. He’s been targeted at least seven times in each of the last five games and nobody in Washington is going to scare the quarterback away from finding his emerging pass catcher this week.
Washington
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson finally made his long-awaited return to Washington’s lineup last week against the New England Patriots. His performance was less than impressive given the circumstances. Even playing from behind with the quarterback being forced to throw the football, Jackson caught just three passes for 15 yards. To be fair, the team is probably just glad to have him back in the lineup. The same goes for fantasy owners. Now that he’s proven he can stay healthy for a week, it’ll be interesting to see if Jackson can put together his first big game of the season with the fantasy season more than half over already. Who would’ve thought we would be saying that about Jackson coming into the season?
Whether Jackson has a big game this week likely depends on quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins showed he could put together a big game in Week 7, when he threw for 317 yards and three touchdown passes in a come-from-behind win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although most wouldn’t peg him as a premier fantasy option this week, nobody has given up more fantasy points to quarterbacks than the Saints. Cousins may deliver some surprising numbers once again, despite his below-average performance in New England last week.
